The Walk

Group participating in a guided Forest Therapy walk.

Here are some general guidelines about a typical Forest Therapy Walk:

The slow, relaxing and gentle 1-2 km walk, without technology to distract us, will last between 2-3 hours, depending on what you have chosen.  You can choose if you wish to take part in the sensory and creative activities that are designed to assist you to slow down and reconnect with nature.  Please only do what you feel comfortable with.

Walks are for adults only and not suitable for pets.

In urban parks It is likely that, especially on weekends, we will encounter other people and dogs, as well as the wildlife of the area.  Snakes are a possibility, particularly in warmer weather, and it is important to follow the recommendations of your guide.

Usually the trail will be circular however linear trails or a combination of both may sometimes be possible.  The trail path can be pavements, gravel, boardwalks, dirt or grass and conditions will vary according to the seasons and weather. We stick to the paths as it is potentially risky, and damaging to the natural habitat if we go into the bush.

Walks usually commence at 10am.

There are not usually toilets on the trails, so it is a good idea to go before the walk.

Your Forest Therapy Guide will inform you about the origins of Forest Therapy and the health benefits associated with it as a public health practice and will facilitate your enjoyment of nature’s therapy.
